Social Media ? What is it for?
What is the real purpose of social media ?
Nowadays we have masses of so called experts & gurus expounding the merits of using social media for business but there are also people who feel it is a fad that will disappear one day.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Pinterest, Instagram, Periscope, Blab etc all could one day disappear or change their focus. In the meantime I think it is well worth cashing in on using the platforms whilst they are available to us. [& since writing this Blab has disappeared!]
But…there is a difference between boasting about how many Twitter followers you have or how many Facebook likes your latest post received & actual measurable results.
Many people spend hours on social media every day which is fine if that’s what you enjoy. But, if your focus is on making an income then you will have to be disciplined & only focus on income producing strategies.
“If it can’t be measured, it can’t be managed”
Today you may be able to send a direct message to your clients on LinkedIn. Tomorrow that might not be possible.
You probably have different potential clients on each of the platforms you use.
So what is the best way to profit from social media? Get your potential clients off the social sites onto a platform that you control!
Make it as easy as possible for people to visit your blog, sign up for updates & join your email list. Don’t rely on just one platform for all your activity.
Use social media to your advantage rather than be dazzled by all the cool widgets out there.
What do you think? I’d love to know…
